Creating an album when uploading photos
When you import content into Piwigo, you can associate them with an existing album by picking within the drop-down list. The list shows all albums and sub-albums located in your photo gallery.
Sub-albums, or "child" albums, appear as follows:
Parent album / Child album
You can also choose to create a new album to upload your photos into it.
To create a sub-album, meaning an album within an existing album, choose the parent album in which you want to create this sub-album from the list, and click on "Create a new album".
The window that opens mentions the parent album's name, you can edit it by clicking on the drop-down list.
The only thing left is to enter the name of your child album and click on "Create".
If you want to create you new album at the root of your photo library (without a parent album), select the first dotted line, and click on the "Create" button.
Creating an album from the album manager
To create one or more albums, go to the administration and choose Albums > Manage in the left menu.
You then end up in the album manager, which provides you with many features (see next chapter: managing your albums).
Creating an album at the root
To create an album at the root (rather than inside of an existing album), click on the "Add Album" button.
A window opens, which lets you enter the album's name, and choose its default position (first or last in the album list).
Of course, you will later be able to edit this position manually, or by changing the albums' sort order (see chapter: Changing the order of the albums).
Creating a sub-album
To create a sub-album, choose the parent album in the list, and click on the folder with a + to the right of the line. The parent album is highlighted for more precision, so that you can't make a mistake.
A window opens, just like when you create a root album, to choose your sub-album's name and default position in the list. The parent album's name is mentioned.
Permissions on newly created albums
When you create a new album, who is allowed to view its content?
